Visiting around the neighborhood and going to some local schools is definitely a great idea. I'm not so sure about scaring the kids during Halloween, but showing that you are a fun and loving person is always a good idea! I really think word of mouth is one of the best ways to spread the word about your new daycare. The hard part is getting those first few families enrolled, but after that I think it's just a matter of time before you start filling up because people in communities talk.
